Toothed flexible couplings are used to mechanically connect two rotating shafts which have to transmit a certain torque in a rigid torsional state.
The torque transmission system is by means of curved teeth, where the torque is transmitted from the primary shaft via the hub to the sleeve and vice-versa in order to be transmitted to the secondary shaft. There is no rigid connection between hub and liner, which offers the possibility of correcting misalignments, both those existing since assembly, as well as those resulting from wear and tear or due to expansion caused by temperature variations.
For a longer life, good maintenance of the installation is essential, with emphasis on good lubrication of the coupling.
